The Ottawa Pacer Speed Skating Club is a volunteer organization and your help is required to ensure and provide assistance to the skaters and coaches. Please take note of the dates you have been assigned. If for any reason, you cannot make your assigned night, it is your responsibility to swap with another parent. Copies of the “Off-Ice Helper” schedules are outside Rocky’s office on the bulletin board.

Volunteer Duties - All Hours
- Wear safety vest and ensure blue first-aid bag is in the stands
- Assist with rink door as needed
- Do not let skaters re-enter ice while drills/laps are in progress, wait for a break
- Coach to escort the skater or give the okay
- Check ice-pack tracking ticket on blue bag and ensure the packs have been counted and logged each week
- Locate parents of skaters needing assistance with skates, equipment, etc., or who are injured
- Direct parents to blue first-aid bag for ice-packs, band-aids, etc., as needed
- Locate parents of younger skaters that need to use the washroom, do not escort skaters to dressing room or washroom yourself
- In case of emergency, follow the coaches’ instructions to call 911, etc., as needed
Additional Duties - Second & Third Hour
- After the majority of Second Hour skaters have entered the ice, bring the boxes of skate guards from the far door where the Second Hour skaters enter the ice to the main door where they will exit
- Bring squeegees from Rocky’s room when requested by coaches/skaters
